The Dream-pop Crossover
A Playlist

I sometimes keep a Dream Journal. The thing about dreams is that they make sense but only in the moment and any future logic you attempt to apply to them will inevitably fall apart. It's no wonder there's are volumes of dream analysis books and websites available at a moment’s notice. You can ascribe any type of meaning to a dream and sometimes that's the key. Maybe that dream reminds you of something in the past or gives you an idea for something new. My dreams are generally complete nonsense but are funny to re-read later on. Dreams are only what we make of them.
Instead of writing a full article this week I decided to curate another Playlist on the subject, more specifically on a subgenre that gained popularity in the 80’s with groups like the Cocteau Twins and continued through the 90’s with a blend into what some folks called ShoeGaze. You may think it stopped there. But you would be wrong to think that, just like you're wrong to think that the dream about winning the lotto means you're in for a financial windfall.
In this Playlist I tried to mix an even number of Dream-pop/shoegaze classics and some modern tracks that, I think, take a bit of their dream-scapes and sonic makeup to those that came before.
It’s my hope that you listen to this on shuffle or even adjust the track order to your liking since dreams come to each of us in different ways and in different timelines. I hope you like it and make with it what you will.
